Mismatched Bridesmaids

Bridal party style is one of my favorite things to look at when seeing weddings. More and more today, brides are going away from the traditional matchy-matchy identical bridesmaids dresses and opting for different, more unique, flattering styles and shades of colors that go with their scheme and really add that pop to their wedding. Depending on you and your wedding style, there's a couple different ways to pull of the mismatched look, while still looking cohesive and put together. I've gather a few examples of different ways to achieve the non matching look.

1. Same color, different styles - This is the closest to being traditional, and will always look classy and put together. Having different styles allows every bridesmaid to choose a figure flattering dress, while still matching the other girls. This is the safest way to go, while still being a bit different.
2. Same style, different colors - This way is also pretty close to traditional, because the dresses are the exact same. The colors really play off each other and give a unique look, but will still look cohesive and is bound to match.
3. Same color family - This one is probably my favorite way to accomplish the mismatched look. I'm a sucker for anything monochromatic and in shades. Holla, ombre everything. This can also be done in multiple ways. Having identical dresses, just in different shades, or different shades of different styles of dresses. I think this still looks put together, but is just different enough to give interest and fun. I've seen a lot of this in blush / cream /pastel shades and I think it looks lovely.
4. Different colors & styles - This is definitely the most nontraditional of the spectrum, and can sometimes be difficult to pull off. Doesn't it look fun though? You don't want your bridal party to look like they just showed up in a random dress to your wedding, so being sure they stay on point to your color scheme is crucial. Sometimes a clashy color in the mix can throw off the entire look. Try going for identical accessories, like matching shoes, necklaces and bouquets to tie all the differences together so it doesn't look to wild.

I absolutely love nail polish. I paint my nails almost twice a week, and if they aren't painted I feel naked and well, just off. (anyone else know the feeling?) I own the majority of these fall favorites in my collection, but a few are on my wish list, so I thought I should share them with you. For this fall I'm loving anything in deep or rich tones. Dark green, burgundy, gray, navy, and a dark oxblood color all are on trend this season. As well as this, I usually don't go for anything metallic-y or holographic looking, but for this autumn I've been drawn to some of the metallics, like the deep copper colors and metallic gray shades. Hope you enjoy trading in your neon oranges and bright pinks and experimenting with these darker, season appropriate polishes!

*All of the above polishes I've gotten from Ulta / Walmart / Target / Walgreens

Home Inspiration - Mix of Bold Patterns

One thing I think that can get boring and mundane about interior decorating is when things get too matchy-matchy. There's nothing wrong with sticking to one pattern, but I personally like variety in decor. Although some of the above examples are on the extreme case and may seem a bit crazy or overwhelming, I absolutely love matching mismatched patterns and think it creates a different, bold, daring look in your home that will be unique to your own style and pattern arrangements. From mixing stripes, polka dots, chevrons, floral, leopard, and tribal patterns, using any different complimentary combinations will add interest. You can easily do this just by adding throw pillows, a rug, or bedding. Sticking with different patterns but having them be in the same color family or color scheme will definitely help in achieving the mismatched look, but won't be too risky. If you want to go a bit bolder though, not only opt for different patterns, but various color combinations, sizes of pillows, etc, to make super unique and different. Have fun mixing and matching!

Fall Break Purchases

one / two / three / four / five*
*the dino sweatshirt is available in men's and women's at Forever 21, but not available online :(

Yay! So I'm home from college for a much needed fall break, (short, but, hey I'll take it!) and my mom and I had a bit of a shopping spree. I found lots of cute stuff at Forever 21, as always. They had all their cute patterned fall sweaters out. I must of tried on like 10, so I had trouble narrowing down what I wanted to get for sure. That's why the majority of my buys are sweaters/sweatshirts that I cannot wait to wear! In addition to this, I've been looking to get a new pair of Toms for quite a long time, but couldn't decide what color/pattern to get, or the store I was looking at never had my size. The ones I ended up are one of the new winter/fall styles that are made a bit thicker and better quality. I'd have to say the best part though, is that they are very soft and lined in a plush fuzzy material. Super comfy, and they'll be nice for chilly days. I got mine from Journey's for a bit cheaper than the website has them for, so check there first. I think I'm set with clothes for fall.. maybe even until winter. Have fun looking for comfy clothes and such of your own. Enjoy the weekend!

Fall Hair Inspiration

I've definitely been inspired by these stylish looks and haircuts I've seen around lately. After seeing a few of these examples while browsing pinterest one evening, I spontaneous decided to chop my locks off to about this length in attempt to achieve this look. About 5 inches off! (See before and after below!) Ever since then, I've noticed this trendy length more and more each day. This medium, collar bone length is great because it's suitable for everyone and every face shape, its not too short, or not too long and is very easy to wear and style. The texture is very adaptable, and can be altered for your specific hair type. From tighter, classy curls, to the messy, undone, tousled waves like some of the above pictures, its definitely easy to style, and a lot more manageable than long locks. Add lots of volume to the roots and air dry for a the more undone look. For even more of a change, adding deep, rich brown, and auburn red shades, or opting for a subtle ombre can add lots dimension and shine and keep this cut from just being a boring blunt hairstyle.
Below are some products I've used to create various textures with this cut--

Not Your Mothers - Sea Salt Texture Spray
$5.99 - Ulta
Short Sexy Hair - Rough & Ready Styling Gunk
$17.95 - Target
L'Oreal EverStyle Tousle Creme
$6.99 - Ulta
Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Antifrizz Moroccan Serum
$4.69 - Target

4.Outfox The Eye Sweater : ModCloth
5.Purple Unicorn Sweater : Target
6. To Be So Bowed Sweater : Modcloth

Okay, so who's tired of this fake fall? Around September everyone starts freaking out and claiming it's autumn, even though good ole Missouri recently has still been having days in the 80's. I don't know about you all but I consider it to be fall when the weather decides to be fall, or when the leaves start to change, which lately mother nature might have gotten the memo. One of my favorite things about fall is curling up in a warm, comfy, over sized sweater or cardi. I LIVE IN SWEATERS! I like them with some sort of cute detail, as you can tell above like bows, animals, or bold tribal designs. Sweaters like these are super easy to just throw on with a pair of jeans, or leggings and boots, to walk to class, cuddle up, or even go for a stroll in the chilly air. I barely even touched at the amount of cuteness of the sweaters I've seen in stores recently. If you're ever bored, and looking for more cozy wear, places like Modcloth and Forever 21 have the most darling sweaters you'll ever seen for this season. I want them all. Happy Fall!
